There are many small towns and villages dotted throughout the region, either along the coast, or buried in the hinterland. See map bellow for an overview of where they are in relation to Byron Bay.

The roads in the region are quite good, although extra care should be taken with many blind corners and narrow stretches. Road maps are available at most service stations and visitor centres. Note that many service stations in the smaller villages may close early (6 or 7 pm).

Many of the towns around Byron Bay will offer a unique character with interesting shops, cafes and restaurants to explore. While the larger towns are fully serviced with shopping malls and all the major banks.

If you’re looking for accommodation in the hinterland, browse through our Byron Hinterland accommodation guide where you’ll find a range of places to stay in many of the towns and villages throughout the region.
