Byron Surf Flix presents Storm Riders (1982)
This month, we’re thrilled to welcome Sea Shepherd Byron Bay on board, in support of Marine Conservation.
Jonathan Clark of Sea Shepherd Australia will talk about Operation Apex Harmony (Shark Nets)
Storm Riders are young, free and ready for anything! Travel with them to 5 continents to discover the exotic jungles of Sumatra, Java, romantic Bali and the blistering desert outback of Australia. Ride the treacherous coastlines of Africa and the Great Australian Bight. See men and women pit their courage against the biggest waves ever filmed and share wilderness waves with wild dolphins.
Created by master filmmakers Dick Hoole, Jack McCoy and David Lourie, Storm Riders features some of the greatest names in surfing: Mark Richards, Wayne Lynch, Rabbit Bartholomew, Gerry Lopez, Simon Anderson, Thornton Fallander and Tommy Carroll, and with an epic soundtrack featuring: The Doors, Australian Crawl, The Little River Band, Split Enz, Men at Work, and Mondo Rock.
The evening promises a chilled atmosphere – come and enjoy a great surf film, on the big screen, with a full house of fellow surfers. The energy and enjoyment of the group is truly infectious. If you are new to surfing and not familiar with the film, this is your golden opportunity to experience it the way it was when first released.
Main Presentation at 7:30pm
Bar, Music and Food from 6:00pm and during intermission
Come in early to the Byron Theatre to enjoy some live acoustic music and an icy cold Stone & Wood in the Beer Garden. Catch up with the local surf community and perhaps you may bump into a surprise guest or two involved in the creation of this magnificent surfing event.
Storm Riders will take you on the ride of your life. Simply the best ocean adventure film ever made!
