Gold Coat Airport, has been operating since 1936, when it was an emergency landing strip. Since then, it has transformed into a bustling international airport, with up to 6 million passengers per year flying to and from destinations across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Fiji, and more.
Domestic flights have never been easier, with over 25 flights from Sydney, and over 15 flights from Melbourne everyday of the year. The Gold Coast Airport also offers direct flights from cities across New Zealand, Fiji, South East Asia, Japan, and now Wuhan, China.
In addition to new direct flights to and from Wuhan, the Gold Coast Airport is commencing Project LIFT (Lets Invest forTomorrow). This project will see the redevelopment of the southern part of the airport, which has been expertly designed to provide higher quality services for the growing number of passengers.
Initial stages of Project LIFT are expected to be completed by 2017, before the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018. The Games will see an estimated 126,000 visitors, athletes and media flood into the region.
Both domestic and international airline services are experiencing rapid growth. With new direct flights to Mainland China, and the start of Project Lift, Gold Coast Airport is working to meet rising demands.
Improved services, first-class facilities, and a location that connects passengers with Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers, as well as Southeast Queensland, make Gold Coast Airport the perfect starting point to your next holiday.
