Coronavirus (COVID-19) cancellations in Byron Bay

A range of events and venues are being canceled, postponed and temporarily shut down in Byron Bay due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Here is a list with links through to further details.

Byron Shire Council responses to COVID-19
Council-managed community halls ar closed, a temporary three-month suspension of all busking licences and Main Beach and Clark’s Beach carparks ar closed. Full detail via www.byron.nsw.gov.au/Community/Public-health-and-safety/Coronavirus-COVID-19.

Closed: Stage 1 restrictions from midday Monday 23 March.
All Registered and licensed clubs and licensed premises in hotels and pubs. Entertainment venues, cinemas, casinos and nightclubs. Indoor sporting venues including gyms. ️Places of worship. Closed: Byron Visitor Centre
The Visitor Centre is closed from 24 March till further notice. Full detail via their Instagram.

Cancelled: Byron Writers Festival 2020
2021 dates are 6-8 August. Full details at www.byronwritersfestival.com.

Closed: Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens

Closed: Stone & Wood Brewing
Tasting Rooms are closed until further notice, our Byron Tasting Room TAKEAWAY WINDOW is now open and they're offering FREE online shipping to your door Australia-wide. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Paused: The Byron Flea Market
The Byron Youth Activities Centre (YAC) team,  is sad to announce that the Byron Flea is on hold until further notice. For updates on the Flea & other YAC offerings visit www.bys.org.au.

Closed: The Farm
It's with heavy hearts that we must temporarily close The Farm gate to the public tonight until further notice. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Suspended: Byron Solar Train
Services suspended from 24 March, they will resume service as soon as possible. Full details at www.byronbaytrain.com.au.

Rescheduled: Splendour in the Grass Festival 2020
Splendour in the Grass 2020 is being rescheduled to Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October 2020 at North Byron Parklands. Full details at www.splendourinthegrass.com

Cancelled: The 2020 Byron Bay Bluesfest, Easter long weekend
Event organiser Peter Noble posted to Facebook on 16 March. "It is obvious we will not be on this Easter. We are heartbroken as we believe we were presenting one of the best ever bills of talent for you." Full detail at www.bluesfest.com.au

Paused: Byron Markets
It is with heavy hearts that the Byron Community Centre announce the pausing of all Byron Bay Markets until further notice – this includes Byron Community Market, Byron Beachside Market and Byron Twilight Market. Full details via www.byroncentre.com.au.

Postponed: Byron Bay Triathlon
The event is on hold while the organisers work with their partners on a suitable rescheduled date. Full detail via www.byronbaytri.com.au.

Closed: Byron Theatre
It is with a heavy heart that the Byron Community Centre wish to inform you that the Byron Theatre will be closed for all events until further notice. Full details via www.byroncentre.com.au.

Closed: Palace Cinema Byron Bay
Will temporarily close all Palace Cinema locations from Thursday the 19th of March for an indefinite period and intend to re-open as soon as circumstances allow. Full detail via www.palacecinemas.com.au.

Closed: Brunswick Picture House
Has taken the decision to postpone all our upcoming shows and events and are effectively closed until after renovations are completed later this year. Full detail via www.brunswickpicturehouse.com.

Cancelled: The Bangalow Market 
The March 22 market has been cancelled, the status of future Bangalow Markets will be actively monitored and updates posted on their website. Full detail via www.bangalowmarket.com.au.

Closed areas: Cape Byron Lighthouse and Maritime Museum 
The grounds and precinct are open, but the Lighthouse itself is closed, the museum is closed and tours have been suspended. Full detail at www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au

Postponed: Stone & Wood Murbah Open Day 2020
This event brings our Northern Rivers community together, Stone & Wood are disappointed to postpone Murbah Open Day 2020 until further notice. Full detail via www.stoneandwood.com.au.

Postponed: Renew Fest 2020 
Renew Fest 2020 has been postponed to 20th-22nd of Nov. and is exploring other ways they can assist our local and national communities. Full detail via www.renewfest.org.au.

Cancelled: Harvest Festival 1-9 May
Northern Rivers Food has reluctantly decided to cancel the 2020 Harvest Festival. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Cancelled: The Byron Bay Property Sales Ocean Swim Classic 
The organisers are disappointed to announce the cancellation of the event and that they are unable to donate to their selected charities and local organisations. Full detail at www.byronbayoceanswimclassic.com.au.

Closed: Byron Bay Brewery
Because the venue is connected with the brewery, they are closed as a precaution to the brewery site allowing them to keep on brewing. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Closed: Lone Goat Gallery
Lone Goat Gallery will temporarily close, initially for two weeks (from 17 March 2020). The forthcoming exhibition by Hannah Cutt -Buoys will be Buoys- is postponed. Full announcement via www.lonegoatgallery.com.

Postponed: CARNABYRON 2020
Organisers are working on the best outcome for their community event, a new date will be announced as soon as possible. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Date Change: Curious
The April CURIOUS is now re-scheduled for May 2 and will be the first Groove Terminator show for over 12 years in Byron Shire. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Postponed: Bangalow Billycart Derby 
In consultation with the Bangalow Public School P&C and Byron Shire Council our new date for the derby is set for Sunday 20th September 2020. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Postponed: Brunswick Heads Old & Gold Festival

Postponed: Northern Rivers EV Forum 2020
At this stage, Zero Emissions Byron aim to reschedule to 26 September 2020, unless this date needs to be updated due to changing circumstances. Full announcement via their Facebook Event.

Cancelled: Circus Arts Byron Bay
The circus show "80's Circus Jam" on the 3rd of April 2020 in their Byron Bay venue has now been cancelled. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Closed: Woody's Surf Shack
Have made the decision to close their doors and cease operations until this public health crisis is resolved. Full announcement via their Facebook Page.

Postponed: Byron Council's public community consultation events
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic Byron Shire Council has postponed plans for a range of public community consultation events in the coming months. Full details via www.byron.nsw.gov.au.
