Footprints Gear opened in early 2017 by Greg and Brigid Kramer who wanted to combine their passion for outdoor adventure with a lifelong dedication to philanthropy and social change. Now, Footprint Gear sells the top outdoor adventure gear with 100% of proceeds going to charity.
Available brands include Deuter packs, Marmot, Rab, Black Diamond, Camelbak, Petzl, Keen, Teva, MSR and Smart Wool amongst many others. If it's not on their website, let Greg and Brigid know, and they can get it for you.
Here's how Footprints Gear works.
Footprints Gear is a registered charity. To start, several people donated to leave the store debt free and liquid. They do pay one wage (the majority of people involved with the charity are volunteers), rent, and electricity. After that, ALL profits go to charity.
Footprints Gear currently supports three charities, and customers are able to choose which charity the profits from their purchase goes to. The charities currently supported are Bowel Cancer Australia (research), World Youth International (overseas education) and Project Didi (supporting girls who have been rescued after being sex trafficked from Nepal). In the future, Footprints Gear hopes to suport 10, 20, even 30 different charities.
Bishal, photographed below, is currently being sponsored by Footprints Gear at World Youth International School in Nepal. He lost all of his family in the 2015 earthquake.
Footprints Gear supporters are well-versed in adventure, and include Geoff Bartram, who has an OAM for mountaineering having established a new route up Mt Everest. Other supporters have paddled a dugout canoe 500km down the Congo River, tracked wild gorillas, and led numerous trips to Nepal, West Papua, Tasmania, New Zealand and the Ruwenzories in Uganda, as well as trips to Europe such as the Camino.
Footprint Gear's outdoor expertise is unrivaled, so you can rest assured knowing that their advice and gear is of the highest quality, and that all profits go directly to charity!
You can find Footprints Gear at www.footprintsgear.org, or on Facebook. Or drop into the store at 71 Main Street, Alstonville, NSW, 2477 - just a short drive from Byron Bay!
For your personal travel or for organising group travel of business travel ventures get in touch.
Sean O’Shea takes photographs and videos every day on the beaches and in the hinterland of Byron Bay. And in just the few years Sean has been posting them, these images have inspired literally millions of people around the world.
Sean is an artist not a businessman, so his friends have come together to help him curate a book featuring top quality prints of his iconic photos, along with personal and compelling stories about how he took them, written by Byron Shire author Kate Veitch.
People message Sean from Tokyo, Timbuktu, Rio, Rome, and hundreds more cities and towns just to say how watching his live streams from the Bay, and his incredible still shots, help them get through the business of their daily lives.
This book is for people anywhere and everywhere who want to see nature at its most beautiful, up close, in the company of the kookaburras, dolphins, palms and casuarinas of the Shire. It will be made to last, to keep telling its stories and passing on its messages well into the future -- and maybe it will even make our collective future just a bit less perilous.
As of the 21st of May 2017 our CROWDFUNDING website — www.pozible.com/project/sean-osheas-byron-bay — will be ready to take people’s pledges. When we reach our target of $25,000 ($AU) we will print Sean's book — and everyone who has pledged will get the books, calendars and greeting cards they requested as rewards. We know it’s a big goal but it’s a bold book, and if we don’t reach our goal, no one will have to pay a cent.
We chose to finance Sean O’Shea’s Byron Bay online so we could stay free of the demands and high prices of mainstream publishers, and so we can discover just how many people here and abroad want a top-quality full-colour hard copy of Sean’s best work. We think there will be tens of thousands of them, judging by the extraordinary popularity of his social media posts.
Any of Sean’s fans who are able to pledge higher amounts can get extra rewards, even an outing in the Bay area with Sean and his camera!
If the crowdfunding hits our goal, the books, cards and calendars should hit the shops and be in the mail before Christmas.
There’s a great team giving their time and talent now to help Sean and me, his partner, create a truly exceptional book that celebrates our amazing northern rivers environment, and our equally extraordinary community.
With breathtaking beaches, lush tropical rainforest, and idyllic hinterland scenery, Byron Bay is the perfect place to escape, unwind, and relax. Experience Byron’s natural beauty with a five-day yoga and meditation retreat, hosted by Awaken Meditation Retreats.
Run by life coach and author Karen Wilson, the retreats focus on self-development, with an emphasis on the practice of meditation and mindfulness. Learning to quiet the mind and bring your focus into the present moment can be life changing, and there’s no better place to start this journey than the beautiful Byron Shire.
Awaken yoga and meditation retreats include daily yoga, daily meditation and mindfulness practice, all meals (delicious vegetarian food), excursions and explorations of Byron Bay and surrounds, and twin share or private room accommodation.
Each retreat is held in a different location. Usually, they take place in a private holiday house in the Byron Shire situated either within walking distance to the beach or among the rolling hills and luscious greenery of the hinterland. Connecting to the natural environment is an important part of Awaken yoga and meditation retreats.
Group sizes are kept small to ensure each and every individual is given care and attention within a peaceful, personal, non-judgmental environment.
Byron Bay’s Awaken yoga and meditation retreats teach guests tools and techniques they can use to soften the mind, minimise stress, and experience greater peace in their day-to-day lives.
