Matthew Farrell : Handblown Glass

Glass is an ephemeral substance and in its molten state it seems to flow in a manner directed by a life within. I chose glass as my primary art medium both for its inherent beauty as well as the tendency of the creative process to entice me into a mind-state where ideas and concepts unfold in an abstract fashion.

Glass blowing is an ancient and unique art. Extreme temperatures are required to work glass in its molten state leading to a process that is both exciting and mesmerising to watch.

As Director of Farrell Glass Studio and Gallery I invite you to view our latest creations which range from functional objects through to sculptural forms. All pieces are created on site by myself and other local glass artists. A visit to the studio provides an experience of the artistic process as well as an opportunity to view the end result.

The Farrell Glass Studio and Gallery is open 7 days but demonstrations times vary so please call ahead to avoid disappointment.
