Warwick Pascoe.....I was born in Sydney where most of my childhood leisure days were spent at the beach. This led to a love of the ocean which has become the main influence in my art. I have a background as a draftsman and 12 years as an airbrush artist. My paintings have ranged from abstract through to photorealistic marinescapes.  In 1993 I bought a small sandblaster to erase paint from my airbrush paintings and ended up experimenting with glass. Both art forms require masking, which is everything when tight detail is required. I felt it was important to be able to capture freeform brush strokes to free up the confining techniques of slowly cutting traditional masking tapes and film. I worked on some masking ideas that I had leftover from air brushing and some early successes gave me the drive to spend the next 3 years perfecting my technique which has fellow sandcarvers baffled. Instead of colour I now rely on different lighting techniques to highlight my work in glass which constantly changes under different conditions.
